In the dog world, humans are elves that routinely live to be 500+ years old.

“They live so long…but the good ones still bond with us for our entire lives.”

“These immortals are so kind we must be good friends to them”

My heart wtf

Not gonna lie, this fucked me up a bit.

POV Fantasy slice of life book when?

“Now I am old. The fur around my muzzle is grey and my joints ache when we walk together. Yet she remains unchanged, her hair still glossy, her skin still fresh, her step still sprightly. Time doesn’t touch her and yet I love her still.”

so wait does that mean elves think of us like we think of dogs

“they don’t live very long but boy are they excitable and love everything? also why do they always eat trash”

Comic book questions I will never have again:

“Really? There was evidence that an explosion on Krypton was imminent and everyone just denied it?”

“Really? People elected Lex Luthor as president?”

Ah, reminds me of my days playing Sid Meier’s Pirates. Swordfights, sailing my snow, and dancing with governors’ daughters…

Chiming in with a bit more about xebecs, because they are my absolute fave:

Later versions of the xebec mixed square-rigged sails on the foremast and the triangular lateen sails on the main and mizzen (the mast behind the main mast) to kinda min-max the best of both rigs. As you may or may not remember, roughly-speaking square sails let you sail faster if you’re sailing away from the wind, and lateens have an advantage sailing close to it. With a big crew, you could even change the square-rigged mast to a lateen and back again as needed. Since you did need such a big crew to pull off the manoeuvre, mostly was only combat-focused ships (like naval ships and pirates) had this rig. If you were doing the three-masted trick, the rig was sometimes called “xebec-frigate”, especially if the ship had a frigate-style hull instead of the more dhow-like traditional xebec hull.

You should totally give this rig to your sexiest pirate captains. Just saying.
